About Alina Petrosan
Alina Petrosan is a contemporary oil painter whose vivid, emotionally resonant work draws deep inspiration from the colors, textures, and stories of Africa and the Caribbean. Born in Eastern Europe and raised in a multicultural household, Alina developed a deep curiosity for the world beyond her borders. Her artistic journey has taken her across continents, immersing herself in the rhythms, rituals, and landscapes that now pulse through her canvas.
Alina’s work blends figurative and abstract elements, often weaving traditional motifs, natural elements, and spiritual symbolism into bold, contemporary compositions. Whether capturing the vibrant colors of nature, or the depth of a gaze, her paintings are portals into the soul of place and people.
Over the past decade, Alina has exhibited in galleries and art fairs across North America, East Africa, and the Caribbean. Her residencies in Rwanda, St Croix, and LA have profoundly shaped her voice as an artist and advocate, fueling a commitment to storytelling that honors memory, identity, and transformation.
Currently based in Southern California, Alina continues to explore themes of diaspora, belonging, and the sacred feminine. Through her work, she invites viewers to slow down, look deeper, and connect with the unseen threads that link us across oceans and cultures.
“I paint to capture the living breathing Kodak moments.
My artistic practice is therapeutic; it connects me to my environment, and enables me to select my reality. Often infuriating to admit, my drive for authentic self expression overpowers logic. Although I am classically trained, my creative process is still anything but straightforward. Nonetheless, I enjoy the privilege of experimenting and stand firm in my commitment to my craft.”
